Construction Recycling
C&D Debris Management & Diversion

Construction and demolition (C&D) recycling recovers concrete, metal, wood, drywall, roofing, and other materials from building, renovation, and demolition projects. C&D debris represents over 600 million tons per year in the US — more than twice the amount of municipal solid waste.

Recycling Built for Job Sites

Construction and demolition debris is the largest waste stream in the United States by weight — over 600 million tons annually according to the EPA. Yet most of it is highly recyclable: concrete can be crushed and reused as aggregate, metals are infinitely recyclable, and wood can be chipped for mulch or biomass.

The challenge for contractors is logistics. Job sites need the right containers, delivered on time, swapped when full, and hauled to facilities that actually sort and recycle — not just landfill everything. Many municipalities now require C&D diversion plans as a condition of building permits, making documented recycling a project requirement.

A C&D diversion rate measures what percentage of construction waste is recycled vs landfilled. Many cities now require a diversion plan (with target rates of 50-85%) as a condition of building permits. We provide diversion documentation that satisfies these requirements.

Yes. Concrete is crushed and used as recycled aggregate for road base, backfill, and new concrete mixes. Brick and masonry can also be crushed for aggregate. These heavy materials should go in dedicated "heavy debris" dumpsters, not mixed with general waste.

Depends on the project phase. A 20-yard handles most residential renovations. 30-40 yard containers are standard for commercial construction and demolition. Heavy debris (concrete, masonry) requires 10-15 yard containers due to weight limits. We recommend the right mix.

Asbestos and lead paint require licensed abatement contractors and permitted disposal facilities. We coordinate with licensed abatement firms and provide manifested hazardous waste transportation to approved disposal sites.

Yes. Our processing facilities sort C&D loads to recover metals, wood, cardboard, and concrete for recycling. Source-separation on site (keeping metals, concrete, and wood in separate containers) improves diversion rates and often reduces costs.

Yes. LEED v4 MR Credit: Construction and Demolition Waste Management awards up to 2 points for diverting 50-75% of C&D waste. We provide the weight tickets and diversion reports needed for LEED documentation.

Asphalt shingles can be recycled into road pavement material. We provide dedicated containers for roofing tear-offs. Metal roofing goes through our scrap metal program.

Most markets offer next-day delivery. Same-day available in major metros. We coordinate swap schedules with your project timeline so there's never a gap.
