How to Recycle Medication

DO NOT FLUSH YOUR EXPIRED MEDICATIONS!!! Water treatment facilities do not treat water for any of the medications that are flushed or poured down the drain. This contaminates the drinking water.
Take your unused or expired medications to your local pharmacist. There are programs that provide safe disposal of all types of medications.
If you do not have a local program that provides pharmaceutical recycling, then it is best if you dispose of your medications in the trash. Before trashing them, pull off any labels with your information on them. Be sure to throw them away in a place where young children or teenagers can discover them.
